Hello! My name is Lisa and I am a co-founder of Imprints Press along with my amazingly talented colleague Jennifer Chizek. Who am I? Well, that’s a loaded question! At my core, I would say I am a true lifelong learner, teacher, and writer.
I love to learn.
I love to teach.
I love to write.
And these three passions intertwine just about everything I do personally and professionally. I also love hunting for vintage books and hanging out with my husband, Scott, and our chocolate lab, Bella.

Why I’m Here
I wanted to be a part of Imprints Press because I believe in the power of literacy to create a more positive and collaborative world. There are so many stories to be shared in this world. Stories that spread from ocean to ocean, continent to continent—stories that inspire courage, challenge perspectives, and build character.
My mission at Imprints Press is to bring some of these stories to life both on the page through books and in the classroom through curriculum.

Where I’ve Been
I have been around the world and back as a teacher and writer! And let me tell you there isn’t a day that goes by I am not grateful for the mishaps, misadventures, and mistakes I’ve stumbled through along the way. I fell into teaching backwards, on accident really, while earning my first master’s degree. I started my career thereafter teaching a mixed classroom at a rural community college where I had just about every age and life experience sitting in front of me—ambitious high school juniors, middle-aged factory workers unemployed for the first time, retirees looking to fill their days, first-generation college students, incarcerated students on study release from prison.
Those early teaching years taught me some of life’s most valuable lessons—that our differences, no matter how large they may seem, have the power to unite us.
Since then, my experiences have grown immensely as I’ve had the privilege to teach elementary and middle school students, write and produce K–12 curriculum, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue of what education means in today’s twenty-first century world.
Outside of Imprints Press, I operate Juniper Shore Publications, a curriculum-writing firm, and I teach online writing courses to middle and high school students at Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. You can read more about what I’m up to on my LinkedIn page.
